About
The Women's Work Lab C.I.C supports unemployed mums aged 25+ to become work ready. Our mums face challenges including domestic abuse, lone parenting, children with SEN or home displacement.
Our bespoke classroom training, work placement and sponsorship programmes focus on building confidence, ambition and employability skills. We specialise in unlocking potential and laying the foundations for a brighter future.
Outcomes for participants include new careers, positive role modelling for their families and communities and the creation of a vital support network.
2021 Programmes
Building upon the successes and learnings from 2020, the Women's Work Lab plans to deliver four programmes in Bath & Bristol in 2021. There are also plans to launch a new sponsor-matching scheme to support even more mums back in to work.
Our first 2021 programme launches in Bath in May with three further programmes planned for the Autumn in Bath and Brstol.
After an initial 4 week training programme each Mum will be offered a work placement at a professional organisation in the South West. Current employer partners include AXA PPP Healthcare, Jacobs, DAS Group, Burges Salmon, Grace & Green, the University of Bristol and North Bristol NHS Trust.
Work experience placements for the Bath programme will take place in June 2021.
If your company is interested in getting involved and offering a work placement, please email camilla@womensworklab.co.uk or rachel@womensworklab.co.uk.
How to get Involved
Recognising that different companies aim to deliver social value in their communities in different ways, the Women's Work Lab works with organisations in several ways.
As a registered CIC, the Women's Work Lab is run entirely for the benefit of the communities that it supports. As such, any profits are always reinvested to create greater impact, not to generate shareholder dividends.
There are currently opportunities to work with us as an Employer Partner, Employer Sponsor or a Placement Provider. Do contact us for more information on these different opportunities.
“Here at Burges Salmon, we understand the far-reaching benefits of inclusive employment and are delighted to be working with the Women’s Work Lab to support under-represented women to fulfill their career potential.
In 2020 we offered one Mum a five-week, part-time, voluntary work placement to help develop confidence, employability skills and support long-term change. As an organisation the Women’s Work Lab is both passionate and professional in making a difference for inclusivity and equality.
We very much look forward to partnering with them again in 2021.”
